The Taiwan Railway Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communication has installed various facilities for those elderly, kids, handicaps and pregnant women in each station, such as:

Service Bells ( or service intercoms):  installed in the waiting halls, ticketing windows, wheel chair ramp entrances for handicaps only including guide signs as provided services for all stations .

Handicap ramps: installed in the stations waiting rooms and on one of the entrances for the ticket clipping booths (several stations have installed bars and hand-support bars) or set up on the side of exit (according to dynamic lines, the installed positions will different.)

Handicap only elevators (including brail pads for the blind on both inside and outside): are either located next to the ticket clipping booths or at the side of the station entrance waiting halls or at the outside of the station exits.

handicap only clip booths and station exits: Special hand push gates for people in wheelchair are installed near the clip booths and exits at each station.

The facilities provided at the main stations are free of charge to those in wheelchair, elderly, pregnant and disabled persons.

There are plating boards available for those in wheelchair to access the platform.

Several stations provide brail fax machines at the information booths free of use for blind travelers.

Reminders are posted on the ticket purchasing booths that read, “Please be courteous and allow the elderly and disabled to purchase tickets first.”

Each of the passenger cars with assigned seating are equipped with seating exclusively for wheelchair passengers. The unassigned passenger cars are equipped with 2 “charity seats” exclusive passenger seats.

Each of the stations along with passenger cars is equipped with disabled persons restroom, hand support bars inside, wash basin and such for the disabled.

Many of the grand stations provide brail guide tablets in the waiting rooms along with train access tunnels giving direction to the blind specifying entrances and exits.

The TRA also provides direction freezes the blind can touch guiding them around the station along with special public phones, vehicle parking for the disabled.

If there are any services needed that are not currently provided, please contact the station by phone or upon arrival to the station. Ask for assistance by ringing the service bell and one of our personnel would be more than obliged to provide any needed services.
