Ciaotou Station is located at the border of Kaohsiung City and County with Ciaotou Sugar Factory in the south and Ciafachan Agricultural Chemical Company in the north.  This station is 388.239 km away from Keelung on North-south link Line, 20 km away from Kaohsiung City, about 4 km away for both Nanzih in the north and Gangshan in the south; the traffic can be considered as convenient.

According to the record of Ciaotou Township, Japanese established Ciaotou Sugar Factory in 1900.  In order to facilitate for products and resources transportation, they were then established Ciaotou Loading and Unloading Lot on May 15 of Mingzih 34th year (1901).  Then it was changed to Ciaotou Parking Lot on Jun. 1 Mingzih 35 (1902). On Oct. 2 of Dajheng 9th year (1920), it was changed to Ciaozihtou Post.  After Taiwan restoration, it was changed to Ciaotou Station on Mar. 1 1955 until now.

According to the documentations, the station office of Ciaotou Station was rebuilt in 1930, its architectural style was full of modern compromise doctrines during Japanese rule; simple style, horizontal-style constructive appearance, decorating the outer walls with geometric lines, the horizontal-style booth, cylinder-shape pillars and square-shape windows.  Nevertheless, there are still wooden waiting chairs preserved in the station and the pillar structures were also adapted the rail tracks for constructions of the waiting pavilion, those are the characteristics of this station.

Ciaotou Station was once granted the honor of the 22nd place of “ the Hundreds of Sceneries of Historical Architectures in 2001” sponsored by the Committee of the Cultural Construction Bureau Administration Yuan.

Nevertheless, there are still wooden waiting chairs preserved in the station and the pillar structures were also adapted the rail tracks for constructions of the waiting pavilion, those are the characteristics of this station.

‧In the future, Ciaotou Station will co-structure with the Red Route R 23 Station(Ciaotou Station) of Kaohsiung MRT.  It has been working on this construction very hard so far and plan to be completed in 2007.
‧The main body of the station used the high-framed station office and it will share the entrance and exit with MRT station to provide the public a even more convenient and modern express traffic service.

》Ciaotou Sugar Factory
Taiwan Sugar Corporation (TSC) Kaohsiung Branch was once called Ciaozihtou Sugar Factory and it was established in 1901 during Japanese rule.  It was also the first new modern sugar factory in Taiwan.  It stopped producing sugar business in 1999 and was announced as a county relic by the government on Sept. 19 2002.  This sugar factory is currently transforming and hopefully it can reform into a leisure business.  From Monday to Friday, any organization can make reservation to visit this place and there will be a tour guide provide by the sugar factory to introduce this place and take a fine ride tour on the small train.  There are bountiful natural ecology with the tropically colonized-style architectures of the mimic-Baroque style and other 19 historical sites of the primary body like man-sized Buddha Brass.  There are also some precious bequests left from Japanese-ruling period such as, Japanese style dormitories, garden scenes, dugouts, ammunition storehouses, red-tiles water tower and the storages, which can be the witnesses for the development of Taiwan economics and industrial businesses.

The TSC Center of flowers and agricultural garden in Kaohsiung is the old Kaohsiung Ciaozihtou Sugar Factory, located at the idle animal farm next to the 33rd period of re-plan area of Kaohsiung Nanzih.  After the development, it has turned into of fine agricultural leisure garden with multi functions; there are Flower Center (fine bonsai combination, orchids, oncidiums, dendrobiums, mini-sized cactuses and so on, the most important of all is they are good qualities with cheap prices,) The Materials and Information Center of Agriculture ( there are Kinmen Gong candies, Penghu lavers, Dasi dry bean curbs, Hualien peeled spicy peppers and all other agricultural products along with the products of TSC, such as, cordyceps sinensis (winter worm summer grass), Ganoderma Lucidum (lingjhih), soy bean lecithin, fructooligosaccharides, organic food products, vegetables, yam and five grains and of course, its brand product-ice products,) Natural Ecologic Center, Organic Vegetable Center, The Leisure Center of BBQ & Burning Dirt Stove, Flower Cultivating Center and Coffee shops.

》Jhulin (Bamboo forest) Park
In order to promote the goal of “green humanity,” Rural Hall of Ciaotou developed the first Jhulin (bamboo-forest) park in Taiwan. Jhulin Park is located within the 12th period re-plan area (that is also TSC farm) and the area is 2.4 hectares.  In the plan, there will be various bamboos of subtropical to frigid zones in the park.  In order to show the fine humanity at the same time, there is also music stage set up for irregular concerts.
The park will gather more than 40 types of bamboos and plant them in the park, not only to completely show the position of bamboo in our culture and those graceful imageries of poetries, it is also expected that the park can be the bastion of the Great Kaohsiung Area and the bamboo can become the county tree of Kaohsiung County for the long-term goal.

》Rail
TRA provides loco motives, electric cars for this station and there are about 60-65 cars scheduled to stop here daily.
The most further station it can reach up north is Changhua and down south Pingtung, stopping at every station of this line for passengers’ convenience.

》Roads
Kaohsiung Charter, Jhongnan Charter and Binhai Charter all provide the passenger transportation services from Tainan to Kaohsiung. One number of bus for around 20-30 mins.
