The original name for Dounan Station was Taliwu. On December 15th, 1903, the route from Chiayi to Taliwu started operation and there was a shabby wooden station established at the present location. Along with the reform of local system, “Taliwu” was also changed to “Dounan” on Sept. 1 1920.

Because of increased business demands and future development plans, in March of 1945 the architecture of the building was remodeled using brick to erect a palace with slanted roof. The primary body of the station was a rectangle space implementing slanted roof with different heights, the lobby had double vaulted ceilings, the four corners on the top were constructed using slanted roofs and the bottom eaves protrude to form a veranda.

In 1903 TSC rail route of Dounan-Beigang-Silou used this station as the starting point. Because TSC exporting business atrophied and so did the sugar railway operation going downfall, TSC Dounan Station was commanded to be dismantled in 1995 and the sub-line of Dounan to Huwei was abolished at the same time.

This station is located at No. 2 Jhongshan Rd. Dounan Township Yunlin County, 274.3 km to the starting point of Keelung Station, 7.7 km from Douliou Station in Yunlin County Government location and 23.6 km south to Chiayi Station. The coverage encompasses Huwei Township, Tuku Township and Dapi Township and very close to highway interchanges. It is exactly the traffic hub of Yunlin County Government. The neighboring towns like Huwei, Dapi, Gukang and Tuku townships and other agricultural towns like coast front Taisi and Mailiao Kouhu all use this station as their exit and entrance.

The White Crane Formation of Huwei
The white crane is Chinese holy bird and has been always the symbol of longevity and so Taiwanese induced it into part of folk art performance in the folk art formation because of its definition. The White Crane Formation has the same pattern as the Songjiang Formation and Golden Lion Formation, which are called the “Three Songjiang Formation.” Today, Sian Village of Huwei Township of Yunlin County used its own community force and resources to hold the “White Crane Culture Festival” and performed “ the White Crane Formation”, which is very rare to see and almost lost its heritage in Taiwan. Through the public’s feelings towards the traditional folk religion along with the concept of modern community culture, it is established and the events were already held in successive three years.

 Mamingshan Zhengan Temple
Mamingshan was originally named Malongshan and the inhabitance started over three hundred years ago. In 1625, the first ancestor with the last name Chen “Dilao” headed many of his relatives to sail to Taiwan for living from Cyuanjhou Fucheng of Fujian province Mainland China. They selected the land for residing and gathered as a village. The local residents erected a Highness Wufu Garden next to Zhengan Temple with a broad coverage.
