Hou-Bi was originally named “Hou-Bi-Liao”. Hou-Bi-Liao Vehicle Yard was established in 1901. The site was renamed Hou-Bi-Liao Parking Lot on June 1, 1901. In 1920, it was renamed Hou-Bi Station along with the change of the place name.
After the Chiayi Earthquake in 1941, Hou-Bi Station was rebuilt into its current style, simple and humble. The station is a wood structure, with a Y-shape pillar, weatherboard cladding, a roof of four-slope design (四披水), and a pedestal of washed pebbles. It is a typical wood-made station in the Japanese Colonial Period.
Hou-Bi Station is located at No. 77, Hou-Bi Village, Hou-Bi Township of Tainan County. It is the most northern train station within Tainan County. Hou-Bi Station was originally a third-tier station. On June 1, 2000, it was downgraded as a Type A Simple Station and placed under the administration of Hsinyin Station. The famous tourist spots nearby include Guan-Zih-Lin Hot Spring Zone, Paiho Lotus, Fire-Water Spring and Dongshan Coffee.
Hou-Bi Station was nominated as one of the top ten historical architectures in Tainan in 2001. In 2003, the square at the front of Hou-Bi Station was renovated under the planning and design of the Tainan County Government to make it more characteristic and in tune with the development of local industries and cultures.
