Jianguo 2nd Rd. Sanmin District Kaohsiung City and the region under the jurisdiction of this Freight Service Session covers from the south of Linnei Station in Yunlin County to Fangye Station in Pingtung County.  The total mileages of areas is 266.1 kilometers crossing all these 8 counties and cities of Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Tainan County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County.  It is also one of the main lines for passengers and cargo transportations in the southern areas. The goal is to provide the public with a safe, comfortable, express and convenient freight services.

After Taiwan restoration, on Jun. 1, the sixth session of Freight Service Department TRA was established on Jun. 1 1947 and it was then reformed as Kaohsiung Freight Service Session of Freight Service Department TRA, the region ranged from up to Tainan and down to Linbian Station, Kaohsiung Port Station and Kaohsiung railroad cars. It was extended to Fangliao Station in Jan. 1953.  On Feb. 16 1982, the stations from Linnei to Yongkang that were once under the jurisdiction of Chiayi Freight Service Session along with all Chiayi cars were all merged.  In Feb. 1991, Donggang Line was abolished.  The South link Line was commenced for operation in Oct. 1992 and the region were extended from up to Linnei down to Fangye Station since then.
