Nanzih Station was once called “ Nanzihkeng,” eatablished on Nov. 29 1900 as a 2nd grade station of TRA.  Because it is located among the three “shans”(Gangshan, Cishan and Fongshan) of Kaohsiung county and neighboring with Jhongshan Highway and Tai-1 Highway; therefore, its traffic position is so important that it can be called the doorway of northern Kaohsiung.

This station was established on Nov. 29 1900 and its old station name was Nanzihkeng.  Later on, it was changed to Nanzih by using the name of the local place name.  The old ward belonged to Nanzih Village Gangshan Township Kaohsiung State.  Not long after Taiwan restoration, it was then put under the jurisdiction of Kaohsiung City.  The old station was made of woods with the size of 240 square meters; then the old station was no longer useful because of local growing prosperity, increasing populations, growing factories like forests and rapidly throwing in cargo and passengers transportation; therefore, it was reconstructed on Jun. 6 1967 until now. On May 1 1981, it was upgraded to a 2nd grade station and the total area of this station is 31282 square meters and the area of the station office is 718 square meters.  In May 1993, it extended to have passengers’ subway.

》Nanzih Tian Hou Temple
Nanzih Tian Hou Temple is a time-honored Mazu Buddha Temple.  The old-aged inscribed board shows that her age isn’t young at all; however, this old temple isn’t a national monument because it hadn’t been maintained properly.  This half-old and half-new appearance couldn’t grand her the title of the national monument, although she is still worth visiting.

》Recreation Center of Taiwan Sugar Refinery
This center was transformed from a sugar cane farm into a leisure farm of flowers and fruit plants.  It is an open space without any fence around and no administration needed.  The total area is 15 hectares.  For those who are interested in gardening has to come visit here.  Among all the flowers, what can’t be missing are the delicate orchids.  Planting orchids is one of the most successful investments that Taiwan Sugar Company had made and the orchids they plant have won a fame internationally.

》Recreational Area of Guanyin Mountain
was name after one small peak looking like a Guanyin sitting straight among all the continuous hills.  The lie of the mountain is peaceful, graceful and pleasant to observe.  Its area is about 11.9 hectares.  There are cliffy mountains to climb, fine soil ground to hike on bare feet and exercise along with various animals and plants to be friendly touched, it is the best choice of half-day or one-day for Kaohsiung metropolitans.
