The South link Line initiated with Kaohsiung Harbor (Dakao) and reached to Tainan on Nov. 28 1900 and in the same year, the session from Tainan to Shanhua (Wanli) commenced construction on Nov. 27.  Then, on Dec. 16 1901, the line was reached to Sinying and then Chiayi on Apr. 20 1902.  On Apr. 15 1903, it went to Taliwu (Dounan) and then again to Douliou on Feb. 1 1904.  In the same year, the grand ceremony for the commencement of Tainan to Douliou was held at Chiayi Station on Feb. 28.  This station office was rebuilt in 1934 and rebuilt to extend in 1964 because of the increasing demand of cargo and passenger transportations.  In 1976, the station office was rebuilt as we see today.

This station is at the central point of Chianan Plain with Jishuei River in the south neighboring Liouying Township, Houbi Township in the north, Baihe Township in the east and Yanshuei Township in the west along with Dongshan Township in the southeastern.  There are also many scenic areas in the neighborhood, such as, Wusanto Dam, Baihe Dam, Jianshanpi Resort, Kuantsuling Hot Spring Area and so on.  Moreover, there are many old classical temples like Nankuanshen Temple, Biyun Temple, Yanshuei Martial-Art Temple and so on.  Because there are continual growth of tourists and the majority of the local population in the hinterland go out to work; therefore, the passengers increase rapidly during the holidays.  In order to fulfill the growing demand in transportation and to upgrade the service quality, each transportation facility of this station has been continually computerized.

》Yanshuei Beehive Fireworks
Every year on the night of Lantern Festival, the Holy Emperor Guan’s holy sedan would depart from Martial-Art Temple to open for Beehive Fireworks Ceremony.  The disciples and tourists gathered along with each array, the sounds of gongs and drums soaring in the sky, breaking the night and lasting until the sun rose. 

Because Yanshuei residents believe that the more beehive fireworks they set off, the better the business will be; therefore, the commercial films and residents will invest huge amount of money for this event and the classifications and tricks of the beehive fireworks are changing and renewing every year.

》Family Liu Ancestral Hall
It is located at Shihlin Village Liouying Township Tainan County, which was a grand house with houses on four corners surrounding the yard, built by Family Liu’s ancestors.  In the house, they worship Family Liu’s ancestors’ memorial tablets of every generation.  The materials, craftsmen were all imported from Mainland China and the architectural layouts are very unique.

》Baihe Dam
It is located in Baihe Township Tainan County.  There are tall trees extending to the sky in the dam area with coconut trees swinging with the wind on both sides of dam. The vast and tiny waves in the great water form places of sandbanks and the silver white bright wave foams once awhile rest with spoonbills. The pleasant scenery and green meadow are the nice place for excursion and picnic. The area of the lake surface at the dam is 170 hectares.  There are two small islands in the center of the lake both under 160 m, the islands come and go along with the ascending and descending of the water position.  The hill on the left bank of the lake is quite flat with heavy shadow, it is very suitable for picnic, camping and all other leisure activities.  There are also gardens, parking lots and dense trees around and suitable for going for a walk and cooling.

》Water & Fire from the Same Resource
It is located at Kuantsuling Baihe Township Tainan County and it is also called “ Water Fire Cave.”  Because of its unique geology, there are gas and spring water coming out of cliff wall at the same time, once lightened up, it will form the amazing view of the toleration for both water and fire.  The natural gas continually projects frame along with the rock layers and forms the view of fire in the water and water in the fire.  The frame is moving upwards that is just so amazing to everyone.

》Jianshanpi Dam
It is located at the southeastern direction of Sinying City Tainan County, the mountain area about 12 km away and built in 1938 as the private dame of TSC.  There are willows everywhere on the lake banks; the green clear lake water primarily supplied for the agricultural and industrial use of water of TSC Headquarter. The natural beauty of the lake and the mountain, graceful scenery and convenient traffic along with planning the forest-bath walkway, physical exercise area, lotus pond, BBQ & Camping area, cabins to become the recreational dam area with variety of natural ecologies.

》Nan Yuan Resort Farm
It is located on Liouying Township Tainan County (Provincial Route 174 the direction from Lioujia towards Zengwun Dam).  It was established under a 10-year careful plan taking good advantage of the natural and original views and the cultural resources in farm village.  The principle is to preserve the natural ecology and to provide a resort farm implying educational meaning among the mountains and water.

》Hongye (red leaves ) Park
It is located at Kuantsuling Baihe Township Tainan County with every kinds of flowers and trees within.  Because of maple trees standing full and the leaves turning red in fall, it was then called Hongye (red leaves) Park.

》Xiao Nan Hai
It is located on Houbi Township Tainan County and the old name was Shangjiadongpi.  The water of the dam is for the Irrigation Association to irrigate the valley zone.  On the lake banks, there is Putuo Temple on the left and Banrou Temple on the right.  The area of the lake surface is around 10,000 hectares.  A wonderful sight with ripples reflection and cloud shadow come across and form a view like poetries and like pictures.  There are also pavilions at the bank for resting along with appreciating the scene of lotus lake and the temple.

》Kuantsuling Hot Spring Area
It is located on Baihe Township Tainan County going along Route 172 towards south and there is Kuantsuling Hot Spring Area after Hongye Tunnel.  It is the biggest hot spring area in the south and is called the four grand hot springs in this nation with Beitou, Yangmingshan, Sihchongsi.  Once you get to the hot spring area, it seems like you are in Japanese traditional hot spring hotels with the murmuring of hot spring running among them and the smoke of aetheroleum surrounding, it makes you like in the heaven.

》iyun Temple
It is located on Baihe Township Tainan County, locally named Sinyan and is alos a county relic.  Because of its unique geographic position, it gives one a very impression of “ another village after dense willow trees and bright flowers.”  It was said that there are “wind-moving rocks” that change with seasons and days and nights in the back of the temple.  No matter how time changed, the mountain rocks behind the temple stay still.

》Dasian Temple
It is located on Baihe Township Tainan County, locally named Jiuyan and was built in the 40th year of Kangsi Qing Dynasty as a 3rd grade relic. The majestic mountain door and imposing square make it the Buddha center in the southern Taiwan. The palace of the temple was built against the mountain with an unordinary sight and the evening drums and morning bells make one ponder.  It is the greatest feature of Dasian Temple that the whole building of Dasong Palace was constructed with woods and not even a single needle was used.
