Brief Introduction

Taipei Station is located at a distance of 28 km and 628 m from the foundation of Taiwan Railway and is at the center of Taipei City. It is organized as a special class station and is a major passenger station of Taiwan Railway. It is also the busiest station for passenger transportation and is a traffic hub of Taiwan.

In the 1980's, Taipei Station occupied an area of approximately 200,000 sq. m., stretching for 28K+053M from the north and for 29K+541M from the south. The station, which was built in June 1940, appeared old. The railway track extended for a length of 28 km, with six platforms and one flyover on the south end and the north end. There are 43 ticket windows in the front station and 7 ticket windows in the rear station. There are 24 ticket collection gates in the front station and 7 ticket collection gates in the rear station. The hall occupies an area of approximately 500 sq. m., equipped with services such as postal services, telecommunications services, banks, food and beverages, etc. After 1980's, there were over 100,000 passengers. In case of festivals and holidays, there is a passenger turnaround of approximately 170,000.

》Taipei Railway Station The culture art gallery on the east-west side on the first floor of Taipei Railway Station has been rented by the Council for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan to regularly display a wide range of arts and crafts that have awarded a prize, thereby enhancing the arts and cultural atmosphere of this station.

》Long Sleeve “Long Sleeve” outside the northeast corner on the first floor (Cheng-der Road and Civic Blvd.) features the long sleeve dancing movements of Beijing opera, which symbolize the different goals of the people and vehicles coming to and from the station, developing toward the ideals of “truth, virtue, and beauty.”

》Father's Love "Father's Love" located outside the North Second Entrance of Taipei Railway Station is an inscription made by ex-President Lee Teng-hui in August 1992 that was sent as a gift by the Rotary Club of Chung Shan in Taipei City. To reflect on the love of father, the sculptor Fong Shen was specially invited to make a sculpture for the first scene "Wish" to show a scene in which children are waiting for their father and the second scene "Return Home" to show a scene in which a father embraces his children.

》Robotic Warrior "Robotic Warrior" opposite to the counter on the first floor of Taipei Railway Station was assembled by Taipei Airport staff members from the parts of diesel engines and electrical engines during their leisure time.
