In the early years, boundless bamboo fields were found in Tanzihdou, which was once a major sugar-making industry in Taiwan. During the Japanese occupation era, Tanzih was Taichung sugar-manufacturing plant of Japanese Sugar Manufacturing Corp. After the Restoration, it was renamed “Tanzih Sugar Plant” with an annual production of 1800 tons. It was one of the sugar-manufacturing plants with the most advanced equipment that time. The boundless bamboo fields that time set the foundation for the industrial development of Tanzih. In 1969, the “Tanzih Processing & Export Area” was set up on the sugar-planted land by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and promoted the economic development of Taiwan and also changed Tanzih.
