Keelung Transportation Section was deactivated in February 1982. The stations between San Diego (including the Pingsi Line) and Nuannuan Station were back to the management of Yilan Transportation Section. After the North Link Line project were completed in February, 1980. The stations between Hanben Station and Su-aosin Station are under the management of Yilan Transportation Section. Therefore, Yilan Transportation Section is in charge of the Yilan Line (Su-ao = Nuannuan), the Pingsi Line, the Shen-ao Line, and the North Link Line (Su-aosin=Hanben). The business operation of Yilan Transportation Section was goods freighting, mainly coals and minerals, in the early phase. After the'70s, since the coal deposits in Taiwan decreased and the requirement of public Safety were enhanced, the coal production decreased year by year. The quantity of coals freighted was shrinking. The North Link Line was completed in 1980, and the passenger service operation grew rapidly. The cement was in stead of coals and the goods freighting operation was mainly cement and minerals. Recently, the passenger service operation grows stably; however, the recession in the construction industry had an impact on the goods freighting operation. The business operation of cement and minerals shrunk dramatically. Thus, the business operation is mainly the passenger services today.
