》Lotus Lake
It is located at the foot of Banping Mountain in the eastern outskirts. The lake is 1.4 km long, 400 m wide and the area is 75 hectares. In 1686, while Fongshan governor Yang, fangshen was building Wen Temple, using Lotus Lake as Panchih (the pond next to the temple, meaning to be a gentleman); he also planted lotuses to decorate the pond. When summer comes, lotuses bloom and fragrant diffuses; that’s why it is called “Lotus Lake” and the “Panchih lotus fragrant” has been listed in one of Fongshan’s 8 scenes.
Dragon Tiger Tower
Dragon Tiger Tower was built in 1974 and completed in 1976. The tower is 7-story high, adapting the meaning of Buddhism-saving one life is better than building a 7-story temple. There are twelve corners on every story using yellow walls, red pillars and orange tiles. There are totally two towers of Dragon Buddhist and Tiger Buddhist; that the dragon throat as the entrance and the tiger throat as the exit. They said “entering dragon throat and exiting tiger throat” will bring you good fortune and luck.
》Chuncio Pavilion
Chuncio Pavilion was built in 1953, its classical style can be the best of all towers in the whole province and once grand her one of the most beautiful sceneries in Taiwan. This old classical pavilion is bright in the sun and reflected in the water. The shadow of the tower has constituted the best picture with the fish swimming carefree on the lake surface in the ripples caused by twisty willows on the lakeside. There is an arch-shape cloister between two towers and a half-moon pond was built within. There are also hundreds of spiritual turtles that are free captive. In the free-captive pond, there also built a Taiwan-shape model, mountains and peaks competing with shows with Eluan Lighthouse. There is a sculpture of a head-uplifted dragon soaring on the island with arcing fountains sprinkling on four corners and colorful lights. What an amazing view.
》Turtle Mountain
It is standing in the southern part of Zuoying District and is one of the tourists’ attraction in Zuoying. It got the name because the shape of the mountain looks like a turtle. Its head reaches out to Lotus Lake as like he is sipping the water and that is such an amazing view. The zone at the tail is next to Gushan, which is the border of this district and Gushan. Jiucheng is then surrounding the whole Turtle Mountain.
》Banping Mountain
It is standing in the northern part of Zuoying District and its original name was Carp Mountain because it looks like a carp falling forward in a lower position. Houjin belonging to the present Nanzih District is called fish gill and the fork at the north shore of Lotus Lake is the fish tail; another saying is that this mountain was once a complete form instead of a half-curtain-shape at present and it was high enough to compete with Kaohsiung Shoushan. Because the Mountain God competed with Shoushan for the height for everything, day and night and never ceasing fighting. At the end, even Banping Mountain is taller than Shoushan, the God of Shoushan reported to the Almighty, the Almighty got angry and used thunder to crash on it, it was then half of the mountain cut to become the half-curtain shape; therefore, it is called Banping Mountain (meaning half-curtain mountain.)
