區塊標題項目符號圖示 Brief Introduction
After the Restoration of Taiwan, due to the rich agricultural, forest, and mineral resources around Jhudong hinterland, the government set up large plants (for cement, glass, etc.) In addition, the agricultural, forest, and mineral products near the surrounding mountain regions take this region as the collecting and distributing center. In line with resource development and industrial development, it is necessary to improve traffic, in response to the construction of Neiwan Branch Line. The construction of Hsinchu—Jhudong section was completed and open on November 15 1947, whereas Hsinchu—Neiwan section was completely built in September 1951 and open. Then the first and the second platform flyover were constructed, to facilitate the passing of passengers. In 1987, safety siding was paved so as not to prevent the vehicles from sliding away and maintain driving safety. In February 1996, the station-building top was made of red roof tiles with colored glaze, and then the waiting canopies and waiting rooms for the first platform were extended. In addition, tiles were paved for offices, thereby making the station a fresh appearance. Therefore, it has been selected No. 1 “Jhudong Town Landmark.”

There are three major sightseeing branch lines (Neiwan Line, Jiji Line, Pingsi Line) in Taiwan Railway. The construction of the Neiwan Line is required to be traced back to Jhudong Railway development plan by the end of Japanese occupation. However, the Hsinchu-Jhudong section was completed in October 1947. Jhudong Station is the largest station in Neihu Line and is a second-class station (station under jurisdiction, Jiouzantou, Neiwan, Jhujhong, Shangyuan, Ronghua, Hengshan, Hesing, Fuquei station, etc.) Currently, there are nine stations. Staff members are stationed in only three stations: Jiouzantou, Jiouzantou, and Neiwan, whereas no staff members are stationed in the other stations. Neiwan Line is also called “Cherry Blossom Branch.”
