Principles for calculating ticket prices
|
|
‧Adult ticket prices are calculated according to the price rate of the distance to be travelled on that route.
‧Children's ticket prices are about half the amount of the adult ticket prices.
‧Discount tickets are limited to their determined discount and cannot be discounted again.
‧If a discount ticket price is under the minimun price, it is still calculated at the minimun price. ‧Senior or disabled ticket is belong to domestic social welfare and unavailable for foreign passengers.

Types of tickets

》One-way tickets
》Round trip tickets
‧These are calculated by taking 10% off the one-way ticket price separately and then add up the amount.
‧Effective duration:
【Non-Numbered】
‧For distances within 80 km, the ticket is effective on the day purchased for both ways.
‧Under 300 km, the effective duration is 1 day; for 300 km to under 600 km, the effective duration is 2 days; and for over 600 km, the effective duraion is 3 days.
‧The return trip is double the departure trip duration plus one day; but trips within 80 km are only effective on the day purchased.
【All other numbered trains】
‧The departure trip is limited to the day purchased and the designated train of that number.
‧For return trips of tickets without designated seats, a ticket is effective on the day purchased for under 80 km, and within 15days for 81 km and over; for those with designated seats, tickets are effective for the designated day and train.

》Group tickets
‧Ticket price calculations:
【Group tickets for all trains (numbered)】:the amount of single ticket times the number of people in the group.
【Group tickets for non-numbered train】:for group of 20 to 49 people, 20% off the single ticket price; for groups of over 50, 35% off the single ticket price.
‧Procedures for buying group tickets:
1.At all stations on all lines.
2.Passenger Service Counters at Taiwan Railways Administration telephone enquires: (02)2389-9538 or Railway Operator (02)2381-5226 x2538 or 2539 (for group tickets of numbered trains only).
3.Please have available 2 copies of the application form specifying:
1. the boarding date and train number,
2. the distance ( from what stop to what stop ),
3. the number of people boarding,
4. name of the group and the name of the representative and his/her contact number; if there is a specific date of return, please include it; 10% of ticket price must be deposited and is non-refundable.
